Is the wooden effect a tile?
Barry Mc Guinness
Client’s project in Moira
We have just completed works to an existing basement (3 rooms)
The existing walls are of stone construction and there was a fairly serious ingress of water.
A specialist survey also identified that the basement had dry rot and wood worm.
We used specialist Fosroc products to water proof the basement walls and then plastered over these coatings.
Due to the dry rot of several of the flooring joists forming the basement ceiling we had to install a number of new joists in between the existing joists as there are two retail units directly above the basement and they could not be disrupted.
Specialists were appointed to drill all of the other basement walls and to treat all existing walls and all wood work (existing and newly installed) for dry rot and wood worm.
Existing flooring had to be removed & replaced in one of the retail units directly above the basement.
Walls had to be treated within the retail unit and woodworm prevention treatment installed
The project also consisted of a complete office refurbishment with walls & ceilings plastered, new wooden flooring installed , new doors, skirting & architrave installed and painting & decorating

We are currently installing brick slips on one of our projects. These are effectively real bricks that are 15mm thick.
There advantages are: -
Cost-effectiveness:
Brick slips can be more cost-effective than standard bricks.
Design and aesthetic flexibility:
Brick slip cladding systems offer design and aesthetic flexibility.
Thermal efficiency:
Using brick slips for external insulation increases thermal efficiency and protects your wall.
Space-saving:
Brick slips are thin and ideal for giving an existing façade a fresh new look.
When compared with full facing bricks, you can quickly reduce the wall thickness by 8 cm with brick slips.
This gives you more room for insulation.
These brick slips are sourced from Fernhill Stone who are based in Monaghan

We have commenced enabling works in a new project in Lurgan, County Armagh.
The Client had asked that the existing kitchen and dining room areas be opened up to make this into a larger single space.
This necessitated appointing a Structural Engineer to calculate the loading and design a beam to carry this.
The Client wanted a flush ceiling so the works required the prestressed concrete units to be supported within the web of the beam.
The beam is now fire painted and ready to be closed in again.
